COOMA DANCE Co. is a new community based non-profit dance
school which opened in 2004.
The
school offers dance and performing arts classes for all ages under
the guidance of Principal, LISA BROOKS.
Lisa
is a qualified teacher with the British Ballet Organization, dancing
under their banner since the age of 3. In recent years she has
choreographed a number of performances for other dance studios,
but now, with the support of instructors, Mugdha Bokil, Lisa Fernance,
Dannielle Simpson and Carolyn Ewart, Lisa is confident their combined
experience and talent will ensure that Cooma Dance Co. can offer
something for both male and female students of all ages interested
in learning dance. No previous dance experience is necessary.
Lisa’s vision for Cooma Dance Co is for
the students to learn to dance through the world renowned BBO
Syllabus and have fun doing it. Whilst Lisa is happy to offer
students performance and examination opportunities she says that
this will not be compulsory.
COOMA
DANCE Co. is happy for anyone in the community to enrol
for any of the classes, especially those with an interest in
musical theatre. Being the Monaro’s first community-owned,
non-profit dance and performing art’s incorporated organization,
all fees and monies raised go towards the development of students
to allow them every opportunity to become strong and professional
performers.
CAROLYN EWART - DRAMA
Carolyn teaches weekly drama classes for
all ages. She believes that drama can help a child’s self-confidence
and, with her knowledge and expertise, is positive her students will
achieve this. Carolyn is known throughout the community for her creative
support to many organizations and her drama classes are an important
part of the new Cooma Dance Co.
